Comparison

Securive vs Veritas NetBackup

NetBackup covers more platforms than almost anything else, including systems most modern products have never heard of. That coverage is the product, and it comes with the operational weight of a product built to have it.

The short version

If your estate includes mainframe, legacy UNIX or long-tail enterprise platforms, NetBackup's coverage is the deciding factor and nothing here changes that. If your estate is virtualised, cloud and Microsoft 365, you're carrying weight you no longer need.

Which one

Pick the right one, even if it isn't us.

Choose Securive if…

  • Your estate is virtual machines, cloud workloads, databases and Microsoft 365.
  • You don't have — or don't want — a dedicated backup administration team.
  • You want recovery testing to be automatic rather than a scheduled project.
  • You want to see the price before talking to anyone.

Choose Veritas NetBackup if…

  • You run mainframe, AIX, Solaris or other long-tail enterprise platforms. This is not close.
  • You have a large, working NetBackup deployment and a team that knows it.
  • Regulatory or contractual requirements name specific enterprise-grade tooling.
  • You need extremely large-scale tape and archive workflows.

Questions

The things people ask before they switch

Yes, and for many estates that's the right answer — keep NetBackup for the platforms only it covers, and use Securive for the virtual, cloud and Microsoft 365 estate rather than expanding a heavier licence to reach them.

No. If tape is part of your retention strategy, that's a genuine gap and you should weigh it accordingly. Our long-term retention is versioned object storage.

They stay with NetBackup. We don't claim to read another vendor's archive format, and any product that claims it can should be asked to prove a restore before you believe it.

Find out whether your backups actually restore.

Connect one hypervisor, set one policy, and let a scheduled drill try to bring it back. If it doesn't, you'll know in a day rather than during an incident.
