Acceptable Use Policy
What the Service may not be used for, and the service guidelines that go with it.
Version 2026-08-15 · effective 15 August 2026
Draft, pending legal review. This text is modelled on what enterprise backup vendors publish and on what GDPR and CCPA require, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. The liability cap, governing law and registered entity are marked in the text and must be set before this is relied upon.
1. Scope
This policy applies to everyone who uses the Service, including your own end clients where you resell it. You are responsible for their compliance.
2. You must not use the Service to
Store or distribute material that is unlawful where you or we operate, including material that infringes someone else's intellectual property.
Store malware for distribution. Backing up an infected system so it can be recovered is expressly permitted — that is what the product is for.
Attack, probe or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, to our infrastructure, or to another customer's tenancy.
Circumvent quotas, trial limits, or per-tenant isolation.
Resell or white-label the Service except under a plan that permits it.
Use it in a way that degrades the Service for other customers, including sustained load far outside your plan's shape.
3. Fair use of storage and bandwidth
Storage quotas are enforced by the platform and are not advisory. Where a plan describes bandwidth or job concurrency as "fair use", that means an ordinary backup and restore workload for the estate size the plan covers — not a continuous transfer designed to use the Service as generic bulk storage.
We will always tell you before acting on a fair-use concern, and give you a reasonable period to adjust.
4. Service guidelines
Backup windows are scheduled by you. Jobs that overlap are queued rather than run in parallel beyond the plan's concurrency, so a window that is too tight will show up as a late backup rather than a failed one.
Restore verification runs into an isolated network with no route to production.
Immutability applies for the full retention period of each restore point. Neither you nor we can shorten it once written; retention changes apply to new restore points.
Support requests are answered during the hours your plan states.
5. Enforcement
Where we believe this policy has been breached we will contact you first, except where the breach is causing active harm or where the law requires otherwise. Suspension is a last resort, is limited to what is necessary, and is lifted as soon as the cause is resolved.
